You have probably seen the news that the Government has decided that New Zealand will move into Alert Level 3 https://covid19.govt.nz/alert-system/alert-level-3/ next week.
In line with the government’s request, we will be open from next WEDNESDAY morning (29/4/20), but with restrictions. If you can, you should keep your child at home. You should only physically bring your child to kindergarten if you absolutely need to.
We will contact you later this week to find out whether you can keep your child learning from home, or whether there is a need for your child to attend in person.
The Ministry of Education has advised that they are working closely with health agencies to develop clear guidance that will support early learning services to safely re-open their premises to children and staff. This will help us work through the public health requirements that we all need to meet. As always, the health and safety of tamariki, whānau, staff and communities are Kidsfirst’s number one concern – there will be very strict health and safety measures in place in our kindergartens as we do our bit to stop COVID-19.
We know what an important place kindergarten is for making friends and connecting to others in the community, and that tamariki and whānau learning from home will be feeling the loss of these things. We encourage you to stay in touch with your kindergarten via the Educa page, and talk with your head teacher when you need to.
From everyone at Kidsfirst, thank you for your patience as we work through the complexities COVID-19 has brought for us all.
